Yongsan / Seoul Station

Yongsan and Seoul Station bookend an area that wins on transit: KTX trains nationwide, the Airport Express direct to Incheon (45 minutes flat), and four subway lines converging. For visitors with multiple Korea destinations or lots of airport trips, this is the most efficient base in the city. Around the stations, you've got Yongsan Electronics Land for tech shopping and Yongridan-gil — Seoul's currently-trending food street, with restaurants, bars, and cafés that food critics are talking about. Stay here if commute efficiency matters more than neighborhood character — business travelers with multi-city Korea trips, frequent travelers who hate dragging luggage through subways, or food-curious visitors who want to be at Yongridan-gil's doorstep. The area has been gentrifying fast (the new Yongsan Park redevelopment, the Hyundai I'Park Mall renovation) so the modern infrastructure is solid. Trade-off: the area is functional rather than charming. You commute to most "destination" Seoul (Hongdae, Gangnam, Hannam are all 15-25 minutes by subway). For Yongridan-gil's food scene and unbeatable transit, that's a fair trade.
